Garfield - A Week of Garfield Upgrade is a 1989 side-scrolling platform game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Players control Garfield in a quest to find his missing friend Odie, navigating through various levels filled with enemies. This upgraded version features enhanced graphics, improved animations, a level select option, and fixes for numerous bugs, making for a smoother gameplay experience.

* Overhauled graphics, especially Garfield, Jon, Odie and the UI.
* Start with full health.
* Level select. Press Select at the title screen to skip stages, then press Start.
* Visible jump kick, with two pixels more range.
* More animation for Odie and four-legged Garfield.
* New graphics for title screen and cutscenes with Jon Arbuckle.
* New font in the style of "Search for Pooky" for the Game Boy Advance.
* All text converted to ASCII format. (Not sure if that is a thing anyone actually cares about.)
* Graphical bugs fixed, like how the lasagna powerup is rendered.
* Palette bugs fixed, like the incorrect palette of the Mice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Garfield is a one of a kind cat. He loves lasagna and coffee. He hates Mondays. When his friend Odie the dog disappears suddenly, Garfield goes on a week-long adventure to find Odie. It won't be easy. Garfield will be attacked by mice, birds, spiders, frogs, worms, flies, fish, baseballs and more. Checking in with his owner, cartoonist Jon Arbuckle, Garfield must reach the end of each level and find the key before time runs out. Milk, lasagna and coffee will keep him going. He can kick enemies. He can also throw bones, cheese and exploding hamburgers. But watch out! He'll need to defeat the dangerous alley cats who stand in his way. It's going to be a difficult journey. Can you handle it? Look out, Monday, here comes Garfield, in his first adventure for your Nintendo Entertainment System.
A Week of Garfield (ガーフィールドの一週間; GĀfirudo no Isshukan) is a 1989 NES / Famicom title starring Garfield. It was published by Towa Chiki and programmed by Masashi Itoi for Mars Corp. It was only released in Japan.
A Week Of Garfield is somewhat infamous as a poor-quality licensed NES game. It is not quite as bad as its reputation, but it's very flawed and unforgiving.
Garfield must dodge and attack enemies (with a choice of weapons) in timed side-scrolling levels, then jump around to find hidden keys. Garfield has only one life and is not invincible after getting hit, so he can die very suddenly as the same enemy hits him multiple times. (The game does, at least, restart from the last level you cleared.) Garfield's basic attack - a kick - has the same hit box as he does. It has zero range. There is also no animation indicating that Garfield is kicking while jumping, just a sound effect. You will collect a limited supply of powerups and ranged weapons hidden in the levels, which can be selected with SELECT. The time limit in later levels is extremely tight.
