Zelda II: The Adventure of Link: Knightcrawler's Zelda II Sprite Pack Vol 1

This sprite pack contains all of the Zelda 2 main character sprites that Knightcrawler has made up until January 1st, 2022. Included in this sprite pack are: Zelda from Adventure of Link, Ruto from Ocarina of Time, Midna from Twilight Princess, the hero from Crystalis, Olympia from Etrian Odyssey III, Dragonlord from Dragon Quest, Miria from The Guardian Legend, and Yoshi from Mario.

Knightcrawler's Zelda 2 Sprite Pack Volume 1 (version 1.01)



Overview:

This sprite pack contains all of the sprites that I (Knightcrawler) made to support Digshake's Zelda 2 Randomizer. The colors were adjusted with a tool made by Lufia (author of ROMhacks such as "Super Ghouls N Ghosts - Super Arthur"). Of course I love Zelda 2 Randomizer, but I want people to be able to use my sprites for other purposes if they want to.



Contents:

Zelda - The sleeping princess from Zelda II, not the princess who is rescued in Zelda 1 or any other incarnation. Zelda awakens Link.

Ruto - The Zora princess from Ocarina of Time. Ruto awakens Link.

Midna - The impish companion from Twilight Princess. Midna awakens Link.

"Crystalis" - The hero from Crystalis, who has no name. This hero awakens Mesiah. In the Nintendo-published version of the game for GameBoy Color, he was given the name Simea.

Olympia - The mysterious Ygddroid from Etrian Odyssey III. Olympia awakens Kujura.

Dragonlord - The main villain from the original Dragon Quest. The Dragonlord awakens his wife/mate, who canonically exists but is never seen or described. Therefore, I designed his wife.

Miria - The protagonist from The Guardian Legend/Guardic Gaiden. Miria awakens Zelda because that's the default, and there are no other characters in that game series.

Yoshi - Yoshi from the Mario series. Yoshi rescues Birdo.



Permissions:

Anyone and everyone has my full permission to use these sprites for any purpose, with the the understanding that I will be properly credited in any works you redistribute. Simple changes to my sprites (such as adding a beard to a character) does not make you the author/artist of these sprites, so please continue to credit me as the primary author/artist. You do not need my permission to redistribute hacks or other projects made with these files. This permission extends beyond hacks; you can make an AngelFire webpage with animated .gifs using these sprites, for all I care. Just as long as you credit me properly.

Keep in mind that I do not have the authority to give you permission to use the characters; that privilege rests soley with the IP-holders for each character/property. Also, a few frames from the Miria sprite are only slightly modified from the original The Guardian Legend/Guardic Gaiden.



Version History:

Sprite Pack Volume 1 - version 1.01 was compiled on 2022-3-25 (March 26th, 2022). Ah, so I guess I should have tested the files before I inserted them. In 1.00, Zelda and Ruto's colors were incorrect, and Olympia, Miria, and the Dragonlord ONLY had colors, with no sprite. This has been corrected for this version, and I have tested all files. I apologize greatly for the error.

Sprite Pack Volume 1 - version 1.00 was compiled on 2022-1-1 (January 1st, 2022).



Version Pre-History:

The only new sprite made for this pack was Midna. The rest were available for years in Zelda 2 Randomizer, except for Olympia which was missed and as such not included in Z2R.
