Zelda II: The Adventure of Link: The Legend of Zelda: Shadow of Night is a fan-created modification for the Nintendo Entertainment System set in the Kingdom of Hyrule. Players control Link as he navigates a world shrouded in darkness and battles foes influenced by Ganon. The game features enhanced graphics, new spells, varied difficulty settings, and expanded areas to explore, creating a rich gameplay experience.

Long ago, a curse was cast upon the land of Hyrule. This darkness gave rise to the minions of Ganon, allowing them to overrun Forests, Towns, and Meadows.

Deep within the forest lives our young hero, Link. Guide Link across the vast Kingdom of Hyrule, and defeat the ominous shadow!

While the majority of the hack was done by me, there are new surprises to find thanks to the efforts of others. Trax helped out a lot with programming and created a new spell! He also helped with improving enemies to make them more fierce! Beware of the bots. :P Enjoy the new Overworld Music thanks to optomon. He composed it perfectly and it really enhances the Zelda feel!

A completely new Zelda II adventure!

"Long ago, a curse was cast upon the land of Hyrule. This darkness

Easy Version:

Enemies deal 1x damage.
Start with 6 lives.
Link's sword is stronger.
Life spell costs 50% less magic at all levels.
Beginning town has a magic refill lady.

Hard Version:
=============
Enemies deal 2x damage.
Start with 4 lives.
Link's sword is weaker.
Life spell costs 50% less magic at level 8.

II) How to Play this Hack
===============================================================================

Use the "Zelda 2 - The Adventure of Link (U)" ROM for this hack, otherwise you
may encounter unwanted bugs, flashing overworld, or something else weird.

Patching the ROM:

To do this, you can use FuSoYa's Lunar IPS tool. It's very easy to use, so you
shouldn't have too much trouble. Here is the website:

- Enemies give a lot more experience so it's not as grindy.
- Added more P-bags for easy EXP.
- Made some puzzles/secrets easier to solve/find.

December 3, 2013 - Version 2.1

-Created separate difficulty versions.
-Easy and Hard version. (see above section for details)

December 4, 2013 - Version 2.2

-Fixed a game-breaking bug accidentally created in 2.1 version.
-Removed bot/bits from towns.
-Slightly altered level design is some areas.
-Reduced magic cost for the Life spell.
-Added 1 extra life to hard version. (Now 4 lives)

December 4, 2013 - Version 2.3

-Removed an NPC that allowed you to glitch the condition for
learning a certain spell - getting it earlier than intended.
-Moved the location of an overworld secret area, making it
easier to find.

December 6, 2013 - Version 2.4

-Carock boss is now possible to beat without using savestates.
-Relocated a heart piece.
-Relocated a magic container.
-Enemies give even more EXP.
-Added a magic refill lady to the beginning town in Easy version.
-Various changes to add polish.

-Changed the sprite priority for the moon on the title screen. It now
appears behind the text.
-Removed the "Shield" effect from the Dash spell.
