Randy Pitchford, the mastermind behind Gearbox Software, has recently provided insights on what players can anticipate from the Nintendo Switch 2 adaptation of Borderlands 4. Despite hopes for a buttery smooth 60fps experience seen in other formats, it looks like players should gear up for a more modest 30fps throughout gameplay. However, Pitchford did caution that during intense firefights, there may be frame rate drops that could affect the experience.
It was important to us to not cut anything and to support cross play with other platforms, so, no. It'll be mostly around 30 fps, with some dips in some intense moments heavy combats or if hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode, etc.
Regarding the beloved Borderlands 3, Pitchford expressed his desire to eventually bring this title to the Switch 2: "Borderlands 3 was not made for Switch 2. I want us to get on that and see what we can do. We need some help and we need some time. Borderlands 4 is everything right now," he explained.
