Gaming Controversy: Why Drag X Drive Staff Were Told to Call Wheelchairs 'Vehicles'!

Recently, journalist Laura Kate Dale attended the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in London, where she got her hands on the exciting new title, Drag x Drive. During her time at the event, she overheard booth attendants discussing their instructions regarding the use of terminology. Specifically, they were told to refer to the wheelchairs that players race around in as "vehicles" instead of wheelchairs. Fellow gaming journalist Chris Scullion shared that he encountered the same scenario, adding to the intrigue of the event.

At the London Switch 2 hands on experience today, and heard something that stood out. Two staff on the Drag X Drive booth mentioned they'd been told to refer to these as "vehicles" and not wheelchairs. I got clarification they’d been told to do so.

I was told the same thing, and not at that particular booth. Was playing something else and staff asked me what else I had tried. I keep forgetting the game’s name (I keep thinking ‘Drag x Drop’) so I said “the one with the wheelchairs is interesting,” and she replied “oh, we call them vehicles.”
