Nintendo of America is teaming up with the Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance (ISEA) to bring a wave of excitement, social engagement, and competitive spirit to gaming tournaments. Kicking off this fall, fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch and Switch – OLED Model will be in the spotlight for school-organized tournaments catering to students from grades 4 through 12. This initiative promises to engage over 80,000 young gamers from across 23 states, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition.
Danielle Johnson, President of ISEA, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with Nintendo as we broaden competitive gaming opportunities for students nationwide. Gaming is a joyous, collective journey. Our aim is to make it accessible to students of all backgrounds and experiences. These school-based programs not only boost student attendance and achievement but also nurture long-lasting friendships.”
This partnership includes an impressive offering from Nintendo: a wealth of Nintendo Switch Online memberships and digital game download codes, available at no cost, enhancing the gaming experience for participants.
In November 2023, Nintendo restructured its official guidelines and application portal for individual gaming event organizers, simplifying the hosting of small-scale community tournaments. This effort further demonstrates Nintendo's commitment to nurturing an inclusive gaming community alongside the ISEA.
“We champion kids who wish to celebrate their passion — or even uncover a new one — through unforgettable collaborative and competitive play,” commented Bill Trinen, Vice President of Player and Product Experience at Nintendo of America. “Our collaboration with ISEA ensures that we craft an enjoyable experience accessible to everyone.”
