SEGA's CEO Sets Ambitious Goal: Reviving the Bold and Edgy Spirit of the 80s and 90s!
SEGA's Bold Revival Plans

In a recent interview, SEGA's president Shuji Utsumi expressed an exciting vision for the future, aiming to rekindle the iconic SEGA spirit that defined the 80s and 90s. This era was marked by groundbreaking IPs and an adventurous approach to gaming that set the company apart as a true innovator in software. Speaking with The Game Business, Utsumi shared his desire for SEGA to cater to a diverse audience, creating products that resonate with everyone. With plans underway to breathe new life into beloved, high-profile franchises, SEGA appears to be on a promising path toward reclaiming its former glory.

“I’d really like to revive that Sega spirit. Sometime around 2000, even around the 1980s, we were regarded as a very cultural company. If you compare it to the music industry, I believe Sega brings rock and roll. In the arcade business, we really had a rock and roll mindset and trying to provide new stuff. So nowadays, we want Sega to always be trying something different, while respecting the old times.”
