Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is gearing up to be a thrilling addition to the racing genre. However, a notable point of contention is that some DLC characters, including popular figures like Joker, will not feature voice acting. The game promises plenty of interactions among characters such as Sonic and Tails, but the absence of voiceovers for these guests raises eyebrows. Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka recently shed some light on the situation, explaining that the decision to leave these characters voiceless was primarily to ease the approval process for the DLC.
There’s been some buzz regarding the voicelessness of certain DLC characters in the game. Even during the demo, players noticed the silence. Is there a particular reason for this choice? And could we expect updates in the future that might introduce voices if fan demand is strong enough?
Iizuka: In our game, there are numerous interactions between characters. If we were to incorporate voices for the guest characters, it would significantly expand the scope of interactions with our Sega characters. This would make the approval process quite extensive for external companies involved. To keep things manageable, that’s why we opted for voiceless DLC characters.
