In a recent chat with the esteemed Japanese outlet Nintendo Dream, Dragon Quest maestro Yuji Horii opened up about the creative discussions surrounding a possible 3D remake of the beloved classic, Dragon Quest III. While the idea floated among the development team at Square Enix, they ultimately deemed that the enchanting essence of the original might be irretrievably altered in a three-dimensional format.
“Initially, there was talk of a 3D version, but transforming any Famicom title into 3D really shifts the overall feel of the game. By opting for HD-2D, we can vividly evoke the nostalgia of the original without compromising its core characteristics.”
