The 7th Saga: 7th Saga Redux is a modification of the original title for the Super Nintendo, enhancing gameplay mechanics while reducing difficulty. This hack improves weapon and armor effectiveness, introduces new spells, and modifies enemy weaknesses for a more engaging experience. The game maintains strategic elements while minimizing grinding, allowing for completion at lower levels.
7th Saga was a challenging and original RPG for SNES, but suffered from ridiculous difficulty and tedious level grinding. This hack attempts to address the difficulty so that the game is challenging without being frustrating, and to add a few fun elements to expand the strategy. Equipment and attack spells have been powered-up. More enemies have been given elemental weaknesses. New equipment and spells have been introduced. Additional changes are outlined in the readme.
This requires a headered ROM to patch.

This readme is a description of the changes from the
original 7th Saga to 7th Saga Redux. For more information
about the original, consult my Game Mechanics Guide on
Gamefaqs.com. You will need a ROM with a header to use this
IPS (I think).

SUMMARY OF CHANGES
1. Weapons and armor are more powerful.
2. Because Lux and Wilme don't benefit much from equipment,
they get +1 additional Power and Guard per level-up.
3. Spells are learned sooner at levels > 10.
4. Attack spells are more powerful; armor has higher magic
resistance to compensate.
5. MP cost has been lowered for some high-cost spells.
6. Two new spells have been introduced...
a. FLEE: escape from battle with 100% success (except
from bosses, apprentices, and Class 1 monsters)
b. HOLY: single-target attack spell of a new element
7. Three spells have been taken away from apprentices...
a. ELIXIR: absurdly game-breaking; replaced by HOLY
b. DEFNSE2: made Lejes a joke as an opponent; replaced
by FLEE (monsters can still cast DEFNSE2, though)
c. LASER 3: LASER 2 is now as powerful as LASER 3 was;
the animation for LASER 3 is now used for HOLY
8. More monsters have weaknesses to specific elements.
9. Monsters' Magic and Speed stats have been slightly
decreased near the end of the game.
10. Monsters near the end of the game give double gold and
experience.
11. New unique equipment, one for each apprentice, is
available as random drops from the D.Night in the last
dungeon; some equipment was eliminated to make these.
12. Seeds can be purchased in one of the last shops, and B
Protect can be purchased from the last shop (finally!).
Bottom Line: The game can be completed at a lower level
with less grinding, but still sufficient challenge.
