Greetings and thanks for your interest in my hack! Here are some notes for what I edited in Chrono Trigger. First and foremost, I?d like to thank the makers of Chrono Trigger Text Editor and Chrono Trigger Editor Companion. These very user friendly programs made this possible!
I also used the shop keeper editor for 1 simple change, and a big thanks for another user friendly app!
Frog dialog more crass. His character should come across as a bitter, sarcastic, yet poetic tortured soul.
Elements of the spoof will be found. Some humor, many curse words. Going for a bit of realism and human elements. A more grown up version of a beloved classic
In general, a lot of adult language and situations. If you get offended by stuff?
Changed some items and weapons, by name & effect, etc. Some tech names and descriptions as well.
Changed the undead dialogue in Magus?s castle to latin, just for funsies.
If you care to translate it is relevant to the scenario!
Lost items, Relic, Seraph Song, Graedus, etc. Put into the game as random drops or steals with boosted perameters. Find them all!
All enemy params tweaked. Mostly HP,EXP,TP. This is not a ?hardtype? but it is more challenging.
Deleted weapons given interesting stats and randomly available to drop/steal, random enemies.
I have a list that I will include with the package, but I encourage looking for them. Most ARE missable! More info on these are in the ?education center? in Truce
Cro nickname added, So if you change Crono?s name, he?ll be called Cro in some conversations.
Regardless of Frog?s name, Leene & the castle folks call him Kaeru
Known Bugs:
Techs learned notification jumbled (unkown cause, cannot fix)
Techs descriptions are jumbled too
Some character names on screen wont change in dialogue if changed when naming. i.e, if you change marle to nadia, she will say my name is marle in dialogue, but her name will be nadia.
That may just be marle, but anyone?s name shows up where the dialogue has it, ie, if u change frogs name, when lucca says ?froggey?? it will say xxxxxey??
When you open a chest with money, it will say ?fhey xxxG? or Fhell xxxG?
Luv Gun is just for fun animation. It MIGHT freeze the game. It did w/ frog & robo, thus I left them unable to equip. Should be fine, but save before using just in case.
Some of Lucca?s ?rescue? dialogue comes up during the ?escape? in the trial. Checked banks, can?t fix.
This release is the first, and I have had to redo it a few times, work out bugs, spelling & grammer etc. The version being released is 1.5 (had to redo/touch up 5 times)
This is not perfect, unfortunately. Unexpected bugs came up, almost all of them from changes in the text editor. I?m no programmer, so the simple ones are beyond me. I MIGHT play around w/ this more in the future in an attempt to make a perfect version, but I am going to try and learn Temporal Flux to make a whole new game. This is fully playable w/ the current bugs, so no big.
Possibly a few spelling/grammer or text issues may have been undiscovered, but I have been pretty thorough and this should be it!
