Final Fantasy III: Reflections is a patch for the Super Nintendo version of Final Fantasy III, also known as Final Fantasy VI in Japan. It addresses a graphical glitch where reflected spells, such as Haste and Doom, erroneously alter character orientation. The patch preserves the characters' original facing direction while maintaining gameplay integrity, with various versions available for different ROM formats.
Certain spells, such as Haste and Doom, use the target's sprite as one of the animation layers. There's an interesting problem that occurs when one of these spells is reflected off an enemy onto one of your characters: that character will be forced to face the same direction as that enemy, even if that means getting turned around. This patch makes them face forward in this scenario.

URGENCY:
Medium. I mean, not really, but it can happen quite often and it looks stupid. But it still doesn't affect gameplay because it's purely graphical.
PURPOSE:
There are certain spells whose animations include redrawing the target sprite with certain graphical effects. For example, Haste draws the sprite with a bunch of clocks superimposed over it. However, these spells have an interesting side effect. If one of your party members is hit by one of these spells after it has been Reflected off an enemy, your party member will be turned to face the same direction as that enemy instead of the direction they would normally face. This patch ensures that your party member's sprites stay as normal.
